⭐HOW WE STARTED⭐

Having shared ownership of a filly sourced by a third party, she proved limited in ability, unable to pay her way or provide owners the elusive victory we crave. We realised a change of stratagem would be crucial for our success and longevity as owners.

This initial pursuit into ownership provided a steep and costly learning curve, but left us determined future acquisitions would rely on our own research and judgement. I fully believe the early setback would put most rookie owners off for life but has proven to our long term benefit.

Bloodstock purchases akin to punting are similar beasts. You can do everything right leaving no stone unturned without due reward. Contrarily you can stay wilfully ignorant of available information and come away with the spoils. Every outcome in the short term is possible and a little Lady Luck can go a long way. That said, relying on impulse, superstition or dare I say someone else's judgment without them being financially committed. The Luck will run out soon enough which is why we fully subscribed to a statistical approach highlighting value & opportunity. Through arming ourselves with the relevant data and interpreting its significance we can make better informed decisions.

THE METHODOLOGY

When selecting potential horses to purchase we won’t operate on recommendation or stable whispers. We rely on our own expertise covering an extensive list of variables & considerations. This initial statistical approach primarily focuses on form & pedigree analyses as well a deeper understanding of yard trends. We look closely at the sample of horses who have left certain trainers and how they have performed. We look at how the sire's progeny develop with age, how the progeny performed over a change of conditions be that distance, ground conditions, course formation. The list goes on!

It is a long process but a vital one whereby we won’t cut corners.

If and when we like what we see on paper we then seek expert veterinary advice for the green light regarding soundness and well being. Some minor issues can be ironed out and this has often led to a bargain but we prefer to be cautious.

Our approach significantly reduces the number of relevant lots at any sale. Once a shortlist has been established we assign each profile a budget. Reassuringly, we often see our targets fetch a hammer price well above our budget when purchased by renowned industry experts. These regularly go on to achieve significant results on track. Conversely we will often see a profile of horse that hits too many negative trends yet command a huge purchase price at the various sales. On an individual basis horses can surpass or fail to reach our interpretation of their profile. In the main however we have regular confirmation we were and continue to look in the right area.

Meet The Team

Andrew

I have been a successful horse racing tipster since 2013.

I have owned and been involved with several horses, most notably the exciting all-action sprint handicapper Only Spoofing boasts 12 career wins. Included among his numerous victories are wins at Ascot, Glorious Goodwood. Second in The Epsom Dash and a valuable Sunday Series win at Musselburgh in 2022

I have first hand experience of how much fun and excitement owning a racehorse can bring; and with the skills I have developed over the years, I believe that I can help deliver a fun and exciting experience to you.

I had punted professionally from 2016 to 2022. During this time have enjoyed success with several ownership's most notably with Jabra Racing who sourced Ayr Harbour from 2019 Autumn HIT sales as a once raced 2 year old colt. Ayr Harbour accrued 45K in win and place prize money in little over a calendar year winning 5 races on route to a rating of 100.

Having dedicated thousands of hours study over the years. I have developed skills to help find undervalued trainers, pedigrees and profiles. The buzz that comes from being involved with a winner is something very special, working with Share A Winner I hope to help make members' bucket list ambition, reality.

I have been involved in racehorse ownership for over 15 years, 10 of which have been with Heather Main.
My most successful horse involvement to date came with Childesplay rated 87. A winner of 4 races from 33 runs and placing a total of 18 times. We went on to breed from her with her sole offspring being Mister Bluebird now a 4 race winner to date from 20 runs & 11 placed including a valuable Sky Bet Sunday Series Win at Musselburgh in 2022

During my ownership with Heather I’m pleased to be able to say that all horses that I have owned and been involved with have won at least 1 race.

I love a day at the races but I equally enjoy being at home to see the horses at the stables or on the gallops. I am excited, through Share A Winner, to be able to share the full racehorse ownership experience with you.
